Pearl of Great Price - Moses 6:59-68 - January 28, 2022
1/28/2022 – Moses 6:59-68 [I have finished Moses 6 for the second time and thoroughly enjoy it]
In v 59 the Lord tells Enoch how he can come back to his Father and to “enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory.”
These verses are beautiful, but I wonder if I truly understand them all. The Bible Dictionary helped me with this: “The main idea of the word is divine means of help or strength, given through the bounteous mercy and love of Jesus Christ. . . . It is likewise through the grace of the Lord that individuals, through faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance of their sins, receive strength and assistance to do good works that they otherwise would not be able to maintain if left to their own means. This grace is an enabling power that allows men and women to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation after they have expended their own best efforts.”
In v 61, the Lord reminds us of all the ‘helps’ he has provided for us: “Therefore it is given to abide in you; the record of heaven; the Comforter; the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all things; that which knoweth all things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth, justice, and judgment.” He has given to us the Plan of OUR Salvation, and it is up to us to follow that plan. That was what we were focused on when we left His presence to come to earth.
He reminds us in the scriptures: “Righteousness will I send down our of heaven; and truth will I send forth out of the earth.” It is always there for us if we work to seek that help.
As the Lord continues to speak to Enoch. He is pleased with Enoch’s work, and He has given Enoch more work. Then the Lord finally tells him: “Behold, thou are one in me, a son of God; and thus may all become my sons” And I add the word ‘daughter” to that verse. Enoch’s revelation came after he had called upon the Lord. The work the Lord gives Enoch allows Enoch to become nearer to perfection. We may not be an Enoch, but we can be one with God: one in purpose, and one in love. He has given us a lifetime to accomplish this.
