Old Testament - Isaiah 50-51 - September 27, 2022

 9/27/2022 – Isaiah 50-51

Isaiah 50: Since the beginning of time, Heavenly Father and Jesus have given us the map that will take us safely through this earth life. When we stray from those commanded paths to explore other paths, we leave the protection and closeness of our Father, His Son, and the Holy Ghost. But when we realize that, all is not lost. We can go back to our map, and get on the right path, and it is there where we will once again feel their closeness, their love, and their guidance.

Isaiah tells us how it works: V 7- assures us “For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded; therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.” And v 9: “Behold the Lord God will help me;” And finally v 11: “Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand…”

Isaiah 51: In this chapter, the Lord zero’s in on the last days, which are what we are dealing with now. He promises that in these last days, the Lord shall comfort Israel and redeem His people, who are those who are trying to be righteous. In v 7 He tells us “Hearken, unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of me, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.” He calls out to all of us: “Awake, awake, [when the scriptures repeat words, that means these are important words to remember—he’s asking us to awake if we have fallen into a spiritual sleep] put on strength, O arm of the Lord…”   If we follow this, then this will be our reward: “Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. I, even I am he that comforteth you…” (v 11-12) The Lord assures us that He is our comforter, as long as we let him come into our thoughts and minds.  In v 13, the Lord tells us that he worries about Satan for our sakes, and assures us that in the end, Satan will be bound. But in these Last Days we need to wake up, and we need look at our map and be sure we are on the right roads—if we are not on the right roads, then we should stop and get back on those roads—and then we will feel the lift of the Lord’s help coming into our minds and bodies.

He knows the end and the beginning. He pleads with us to make ourselves ready to live in His light. That way, no matter whether we are at the End of Days, or the Beginning of Days, our days will be good-- and very good for us!
