Old Testament -Isaiah 66 - October 8, 2022
10/8/2022 - Isaiah 66
Once again, the chapter synopsis is very appreciated: "At the Second Coming, Israel, as a nation, shall be born in a day; the wicked shall be destroyed; and the Gentiles shall hear the gospel." We've leaned that the Second Coming will come first, and teh entire world will be aware of it at the same time. We also know that the Millennium will come after Christ has finished the work of the Second Coming. We know that the times leading up to His Second Coming will be difficult. He shall come "with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many." (v's 15 & 16) He is telling us how He shall come, and He shall set things straight. We also know that the Millennium will follow and will be a time of peace and righteousness. At that time, Christ will stay and reign on this earth, and the Lord's people will enjoy happiness, peace, and prosperity.
So often He was worked to teach us through His scriptures. Here in verse 4 He speaks of the many people on earth who "when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not." And then in verse 5, He tells us how he wants us to respond to Him: "Hear the word of the Lord...Let the Lord be glorified...He shall appear to your joy...."
In v 18 He reminds us that He knows us, He knows our works and our thoughts. Then He explains: "It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory."
The end results of all of this are in v's 22-23: "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that form one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith he Lord." Evidently when the Lord comes, His works will be rapidly completed. I am sure there is much we still need to learn. I hope our eternities will bring us growth in knowledge, and in understanding, and in love. For there is much more to come, our being on this earth is simply an important step in our heavenly education.
